Hotels I Have stayed at when travelling in Italy to take the photos for the site

Over the past 10 years I have travelled through 18 of the 20 regions of Italy, taking all the photos that you can see on the Italy in Photos site. In the photo gallery below, can see most of the hotels that have a styed in whilst travelling through this very diverse country. All the hotels were booked through Booking.com, due to the convenience of easily changing a booking if my plans changed and the ability to cancel a reservation at very short notice without incurring a penalty.

The criteria that I used for choosing a hotel, was first looking at hotels with on-site parking which were within my budget and as near as possible to the centre of the place I was visiting.  The review score was looked at next, again trying to find places with as near an “8” as possible. If I could not find a Hotel near the centre, a restaurant in the hotel was important especially if it was likely that I would be arriving late in the day. All the hotels listed below fitted the criteria other than Hotel Sopergain in Milano and Palazzo Jannuzzi Relais I Sorrento as I flew out to Italy and did not need parking. I have stayed at a few of these hotels more than once and would be happy to revisit any of them again.

Terni

I must thank the staff at Hotel Garden Terni for the way they looked after me when I became seriously ill with acute abdominal pain very early on a Sunday morning. The night porter was very quick to arrange for a doctor to visit the hotel, and two doctors arrived within 15 minutes. After a very painful examination they arranged for an ambulance to take me to the hospital which also arrived very quickly. When I was taken from the hotel I just had on a pair of jeans, shirt and shoes and my documentation. Everything else was left in a very untidy room. The hotel took charge of this and packed all my belongings and locked them in my car. On the Sunday afternoon a young lady from the Hotel brought a bag to the Hospital, with my washing gear and a few clothes that they had selected. She told me not to worry about the car which could stay in their car park until I was discharged. I will always be so gratfully for their kindnest. I spent a night at the hotel on the day I was discharged and had a fantstic meal in their rsturant. Thank you so much.
