Riva Trigoso

Welcome to Italy in Photos, where we invite you to delve into the wonderful treasures of Riva Trigoso: – Riva Trigoso is a seaside town in the province of Genoa, Liguria, Italy. It is part of the municipality of Sestri Levante, along with its sister village of Trigoso. Riva Trigoso has a long sandy beach, a fishing port, and a shipyard that builds commercial and military vessels. Riva Trigoso is also a popular tourist destination, especially for those who love the authentic and genuine atmosphere of a Ligurian fishing village. It has a history that dates to Roman times, when it was known as Segesta Tigullorum. It was later united with Trigoso in 1874, when the railway station was built. The name Riva Trigoso comes from the Latin words “ripa” (bank) and “trigonum” (triangle), referring to the shape of the bay and the river Petronio that divides it. Riva Trigoso is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea, the charm of the colourful houses and boats, the taste of the local cuisine based on fish and seafood, and the culture and traditions of the Ligurian people. Riva Trigoso is also close to other famous attractions on the Italian Riviera, such as Sestri Levante, Portofino, and the Cinque Terre.
