Piazza Erminio Ferretto, 30174 Venezia VE, Italy (June 2022)

Pasticceria Bido

Pasticceria Bido, overlooking the elegant Piazza Erminio Ferretto in the heart of Mestre, is a must-see for any sweet tooth: here, the art of pastry making meets the lively city square, creating a gourmet experience from the entrance to the outdoor terrace. Founded over twenty years ago by Alvaro Bido and his brother Sandro, this pastry shop has grown from solid roots. Behind every product is a highly innovative laboratory located in Noale, where creams, tarts, semifreddos, and miniature pastries are experimented with meticulous care and creativity.

Outside, Piazza Erminio Ferretto, Mestre’s “lounge square,” characterized by porticoes, the ancient clock tower, and bustling urban life—provides the perfect backdrop for the bistro/pastry shop: a place to sit, observe, enjoy, and socialize in a convivial and modern space. The interior reflects a sober and refined style, born from two renovations (the last in 2019). Optical whites and grays dominate, with warm tables and elegant Venetian touches: a balance between minimalism and hospitality, with friendly, understated service. But the real star is the counter: a showcase of small, elegant treats—geometric miniatures, éclairs, single-portion pastries, macarons. The colors shine, the textures alternate between cream, fresh fruit, chocolate, and butter, with evident technical mastery, yet never pretentious.

At breakfast time, you can choose from pistachio croissants, raisin pastries, doughnuts, and swirls: fragrant, freshly baked, with soft, well-balanced fillings. And for lunch or an aperitif, Pasticceria Bido also offers savory options: filled brioches, sandwiches, mini pizzas, and savoury pastries.

The overall experience is that of a modern, elegant pastry shop, capable of balancing tradition and innovation, always with creativity and technique. Ideal for both a sweet break and a quick lunch in an informal yet refined setting.
