Find Places in Italy beginning with “S” – This page features the places that I have visited, starting with the letter “S”. One of them is Spello a lovely town in the region of Umbria, in central Italy. It is known for its ancient history, its beautiful churches, and its colourful flowers. Spello was founded by the Umbri, an ancient people who lived in this area before the Romans. The town became a Roman colony in the first century BC and was called Hispellum.
