Photos of Italy taken on Walks in the Cities Towns & Villages of Italia

Welcome to Italy in Photos, where we invite you to embark on a journey through Rivoli: – Rivoli is a charming town in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, about 14 kilometres west of Turin. It has a rich history and culture, as well as a beautiful natural scenery. Here are some reasons why you might want to visit Rivoli: – Rivoli Castle: This impressive castle was started by Victor Amadeus II, the king of Sicily and Sardinia, in 1712 on the site of an older fortress. It was never completed, but it still offers a stunning view of the town and the surrounding Alps. The castle also hosts a museum of contemporary art, where you can admire works by famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Anish Kapoor, and Richard Serra. – The Casa del Conte Verde which is elegant residence dates to the 14th and 15th centuries, and it belonged to Amadeus VI, also known as the Green Count, one of the most influential rulers of the Savoy dynasty. The house features a Gothic facade, a Renaissance courtyard, and a frescoed chapel. It is now a cultural centre that hosts exhibitions and events. – Palazzo Piozzo: This former slaughterhouse was converted into a modern and spacious public square, where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll, a coffee, or a skate on the ice rink in winter. The square is also a meeting point for locals and visitors, and it often hosts concerts, festivals, and markets. – The Cuisine: Rivoli is famous for its gastronomy, which reflects the diversity and richness of the Piedmontese cuisine. You can taste delicious dishes such as agnolotti (stuffed pasta), bagna cauda (a garlic and anchovy dip), brasato al barolo (beef braised in red wine), and bonet (a chocolate and amaretto pudding). You can also sample some of the finest wines of the region, such as Barolo, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. Rivoli is a town that will surprise you with its beauty, history, and culture. It is a perfect destination for a day trip or a longer stay, where you can discover the charm and the flavours of Piedmont.
