The Duomo di San Lorenzo Martire, located in the heart of Mestre, Italy, stands as a significant architectural and spiritual landmark in the Venetian mainland. As the principal church of the city, it not only serves as the religious centre for the local Catholic community but also embodies centuries of history, artistry, and cultural identity. Dedicated to Saint Lawrence the Martyr—a revered early Christian deacon who met his end in Rome under Emperor Valerian—the church reflects both deep-rooted devotion and the historical evolution of Mestre from a small medieval settlement to a bustling modern town.

The current structure of the Duomo has undergone multiple phases of reconstruction, restoration, and embellishment over the centuries. The earliest documented mention of a church on this site dates back to the 10th century, though much of that original building has been lost to time. The present form of the Duomo largely stems from significant renovations carried out during the 18th and 19th centuries, giving it the neoclassical appearance that dominates today. Its tall façade, symmetrical form, and restrained decoration typify the architectural styles favoured during that period, though remnants of earlier influences can still be discerned in various corners of the structure.
